According to records Westview S. D. was organized in 1893. The first building was a one-room, 16' X 24' structure with an added small entrance for clothes attached to the school entrance. 1916 saw the erection of a new school building which was long past due as the winter of 1914 to the spring of 1915 saw an enrollment of 52 in the old 16' X 32' school. Talk about packed like sardines! By 1920 replacements were again graduating from Grade 8 so a meeting was called. Debentures floated and a high school room was added for its first class August 1921. The attendance became small;
thus it was in June, 1963, the era of the
rural school in Westview district came to an
end.
