King William School
Above Miss Mary Bergland with her students A petition for the organization of the S. D.was made on March 10, 1926 by J. E. A Spearman, E. T. Smith and Wm. Smith. The school site was NW 6-18-29 - 2 miles south of Spearmans. The Spearmans worked with neighbours to construct the School. It was to be built in the fall of 1926 but weather was against them. The school and barn were built in the spring of 1927 at the cost of $4000. The school had hardwood floors. This district was always known as "King Billy". The school served as the district church, Sunday School, meeting hall and for elections, dances and all community functions. The school closed in 1948 and the building was taken to Coderre. |
