In 1891 Presbyterian and
Methodist services were conducted on alternate
Sundays by student ministers at the section
house. By about 1898 the Presbyterian services
were held in Caron School House, which was later
used as the Oddfellows Hall. The first
Presbyterian Church in Caron, shown behind the
school in the picture below, was built in 1907.
It burned to the ground in 1914 but was rebuilt in 1916. After the Methodist and Presbyterian union in 1925, the church became known as St. Andrews United Church. The image above was taken in 2000 by which time it had been converted into a private home. The images below were taken in May of 2014. |
