Rochdale Vintners Building, Yorkshire Street And Newhall Street

As the inscription indicates, this building once belonged to the Rochdale Vintners Company.  The building has two facades, the one above on Newgate Street and a brick one (below) on Yorkshire Street.

In 2018, it is occupied by “Cocka Doodle Moo” that describes itself as a “Meat Shack”.  Prior to this, it was home to Yates’s Wine Lodge.  (The images below were taken circa 2002)

The Yates's Wine Lodge in Rochdale was one of the earliest bought by the company, who also operated a subsidiary firm called the Rochdale Vintners Company.  Over the modern shop window of the Wine Lodge on Yorkshire Street, is an ornamental and dated downspout, inscribed with the year 1745.

In 1745, this was a private residence before it was transformed into the Blue Bell Inn.

On the Newhall Street facade is the date 1911.
