building once belonged to the Rochdale Vintners
Company. The building has two facades, the one
above on Newgate Street and a brick one (below) on
Yorkshire Street.
![]() In 2018, it is occupied by “Cocka Doodle Moo” that describes itself as a “Meat Shack”. Prior to this, it was home to Yates’s Wine Lodge. (The images below were taken circa 2002) ![]() ![]() The Yates's Wine Lodge in
Rochdale was one of the earliest bought by the
company, who also operated a subsidiary firm
called the Rochdale Vintners Company. Over
the modern shop window of the Wine Lodge on
Yorkshire Street, is an ornamental and dated
downspout, inscribed with the year 1745.
![]() In 1745, this was a private residence before it was transformed into the Blue Bell Inn. On the Newhall Street facade is the date 1911. ![]() |
