Regal Moon Public House

The Regal Moon is a Wetherspoon's public house in the centre of Rochdale.  It started life as the Regal Cinema designed by Leslie C. Norton and the Assiciated British Cinema's in-house architect William R. Glen.  In its original single screen format it had seating for 1,901on two levels.  It opened in May of 1938.  In 1978 it was modified to accommodate 3 screens but in October of 1992 it closed its doors for good as a cinema.  Amazingly, it was then de-tripled before being converted into a bingo hall but that didn't last for very long and in 1997 the Wetherspoon chain converterd the ground floor into a pub.
