According to an
article in the Manchester Evening News dated August
13, 2007, "Champness Hall was opened on 8
September 1925. It included facilities for 1,000
Sunday school pupils, 20 classrooms for study,
an exhibition centre and flats for the
homeless." The Champness Hall
Trust website describes it as, "... A
beautiful Art Deco bulding in the centre of
Rochdale offering the largest auditorium in the
town. Available for hire. We also have a large
funtion room with a fully kitted out
professional kitchen which is available for a
variety of functions. Ideal for Sportsmans
Dinners / weddings / parties etc." The
building is also home to the Champness Hall Church
that describes itself as, "... a
church family of Christian believers who come
from all walks of life and circumstances made up
of young & older, singles, couples &
families." The church holds
services in the hall every Sunday at 10:30 am and
Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.
