In 1972 the Royal Manchester College of Music merged with the Northern School of Music to create the Royal Northern College of Music.  The home for this new entity was this building on the corner of Oxford Road and Booth Street West.  Designed by Bickerdike, Rich and Partners it was constructed between 1968 and 1973.
