On the corner of Boundary Street and Cambridge Street is the University of Manchester Army Barracks.   It is home to the Manchester and Salford Universities Officers Training Corps.  The MSUOTC is a Territorial Army focusing on students enrolled in higher education at the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford.  The barracks were opened in 1994 by Her Majesty the Queen.  Its facilities include an officer's mess, a gym and a climbing wall.
