The Bellhouse Building - Manchester Metropolitan University

This 19th Century town house sits across from the Grosvenor Square Park, on Ormond Street.  It is called the Bellhouse Building and is home to the Alumni and Development Office of the Manchester Metropolitan University.  The plaque outside the door says that it is the "Marketing and Communications" centre.

However, the only part of the original town house that remains is this facade.  It was built for the Bellhouse family who were prominent building contractors.

In 1910 it was convered by Thomas Worthington into the Manchester Ear Hospital.  It is seen below in the image taked by Pauline Leech, and shown here with the permission of Chetham's Library.

By 1987 the building had been converted again into offices.
