Albion Wharf
This building on
Albion Street is like Trinity Court on John Dalton
Street in that only the facade of the original
building remains. Albion Wharf was built in 1868
by Mangnall & Littlewood. The building
behind the facade was built in 1991 by Provan &
Makin and features full-height gables. The
windows in the original facade have attractive wrought
iron traceries. As my sketch map below shows,
the building was used in the 1920s as a Blouse Factory
and Warehouse. It was also used as a paper, ink
and general store by the Manchester Guardian &
Evening News.
