Central Street
Warehouse
 Undoubtable yet
another warehouse by Clegg and Knowles like so many
other around the city centre. The 1888 plan,
from which my sketch below is taken, shows it as a
shipping warehouse belonging to Gaddum & Co and
Robert Barclay & Co. Pevsner describes it as
a four storey Palazzo warehouse.
 Today it is clearly an
office building but it is also home to ONE Central
Street a club which Elle magazine described as, "the
most stylish bar in Manchester" They say of
themselves that, "One Central Street offers great
service, great music and an extensive drinks menu in
chic, contemporary surroundings. Situated in the
basement of a Grade II listed building and designed by
JudgeGill, One Central Street has won various design
awards including Theme Magazine Best Interior Design
2002 and Key 103 Manchester Bar and Club Awards Best
Bar Décor 2003."
