This office
building on the corner of Deansgate & Peter
Street is part of the Bruntwood collection of
office and retail spaces in Manchester. The
1888 map of the area indicates that it was a
packing warehouse for John Stevenson & Sons
Ltd called Central Buildings. If you look
carefully at the photograph above you will see,
above the small green entrance door a row of 4
narrow windows. These would have been
"taking-in" doors for the warehouse. The
1888 plan shows cranes at this location and on the
Booth Street side of the building. Along the
Peter Street side where you see the blue frontages
today the 1888 plan shows 5 shops and a
restaurant. The blue frontage today goes
with a pub called Squares".
