In the middle of the 19th Century, Kennedy Street was essentially a residential street.  By the 1880s, most of the houses on the south side of the street had been replaced by commercial offices and warehouses.  Many of them are still there being used as offices for a variety of ventures including, in 2010,  surveyors and photographers.
