Chancery Place
Chancery Place occupies the site of the former Scottish Provident House, a seven storey office building that was erected in the 1960s but which laid empty for a number of years. It sits on an island site of 0.2 acres with Booth Street on one side and Brown Street on the other. Because of the limited space the architects brief was to maximize the floor plate which they have done by first of all creating a two and a half storey basement car park and then overhanging the top 14 floors over the pavement. The top of the building is crowned by two storey high vertical glass louvres, which provide environmental control to a roof level garden and the final office floor. Below is a series of photographs charting the buildings progress towards completion.
