Ship Canal House - King Street



Known as 'The Big Ditch" the Manchester Ship Canal provided a 36 mile long navigation allowing ocean going ships to reach the fringes of Manchester City Centre. The canal opened to shipping on 21 May 1894. Ship Canal House on King Street opened in 1924 and was built by Harry S. Fairhurst.
