![]() This house on Lever Street has a
long history as a public house.
Until relatively recently it was
the Royal
George pub
![]() ![]() **************************** The 1844 map of the area shows that
it has been a public house for more than 170
years. As you can see, in 1844 it was called The
Imperial Wreath.
![]() By the end of the 19th century the
pub had expanded into the space previously occupied by
a pair of back-to-back houses. Clearly at some
point after this, the remaining houses were demolished
to make way for the four-storey commercial/industrial
building you can see in the current images at the top
of this page.
