In February 2011, when this image was taken, 42 - 44 Oldham Street was occupied by "den - furniture & interiors" and around the corner on Hilton Street a laundrette and the Koffee Pot café.  Previously, it was also home to a budget hotel called the Hilton Chambers.

In 1886 it was also home to a tailor as well as a clothing warehouse, a "Brace & Belt" warehouse and a restaurant.
