18 - 20 Oldham Street

In February 2011, when the image above was taken, 18 Oldham Street, on the corner of Oldham Street and Dale Street, is occupied by "Vinyl Exchange".  Number 20, in the same building is home to Fat City Records.  If you click on the link below you can see the building in 1967, when it was home to "Weaver to Wearer" and other shops.  Clearly the building we see today is only a portion of the original.  Today there are only 5 windows on Oldham Street while there were 11 in 1967.

In 1886 the building was home to the tailors Beaty Brothers and upstairs there was a concert hall.

Beaty Brothers were a prominent clothing retailer in Manchester at that time and they also had a shop on the corner of Market Street and Market Place.
