Between Shudehill and Salmon Street and adjacent to the former Wholesale Fish Market, is on old commercial building with the name of George Makin and Sons on a sign attached to it.

It appears that the sign and the building it is attached to has been there for some time because George Makin & Sons had a Fancy Goods business here in 1888.
