The Lawn - Hardman Square, Spinningfield

The Lawn area in Hardman Square is a public realm that offers a number of attractions including restaurants, bars, as well as a variety of outdoor events throughout the year.

Over the years the lawn has gone through a number of changes and in 2017 work started on a new building along its southern edge.  Sheppard Robson have designed what they are calling "The Field" which they describe as, "... a celebration of green space in the city; a cutting-edge, but inherently sustainable destination, with exciting bars and restaurants, interlinking footpaths and planted areas."  The main feature of the development will be The Ivy restaurant in a four-storey, timber framed building that was , "... greened and softened with landscaped ledges and trellaces, tiered seating and street furniture, adding  some ever-needed public green space to the urban layout of Manchester city centre."

The images below show the Lawn in previous years.

The Lawn Club used to occupy the southern end of the lawn.  It described itself as, "... A quintessentially British retreat in the heart of the city serving premium, locally sourced seasonal food and drink. ... this is a place to relax and grab a coffee, meet the girls for cocktails, enjoy a craft beer with your bessie or party till the wee small hours with the whole gang."

Across the Lawn from the Lawn Club is the Long Bar which claims to be, "... one of Manchester's favourite summer bars serving classic summer cocktails, bottled beers and wines to the masses who have flocked to claim a bar stool at our aptly named Long Bar. Hang on our terrace or lounge on The Lawns of Spinningfields."
