Oddfellows House - Deansgate

This Grade II Listed building on Deansgate, between Hardman Street and Atkinson Street, is now known as Oddfellows House (the image above was taken in 2015).  The name reflects the fact that it recently became home to the The Independent Order of Oddfellows Manchester Unity Friendly Society.  Prior to this, the building underwent an extensive refurbishment and in addition to providing office space to the Oddfellows it is also home to two restaurants located at opposite ends of the building.

Over the years Oddfellows House had had a number of functions.  If you look carefully beneath the name over the door to 184 Deansgate, you will see that the stone looks dirty.  In fact this is what remains of its previous title "Inland Revenue", which you can see in an earlier image shown below.

The building also contains 186 Deansgate which was once home to the High Court Registry.

Below is an aerial view of the building taken in May of 1946.
