The Masonic Hall
The Royal Institute of
British Architects awarded Percy Worthington a Gold
Medal for this building in 1930. It was commissioned
by the Masonic Lodge and opened in 1929. The exterior
is portland stone and inside there is a barrel vaulted
ceiling supported on Ionic columns.
Two wings with tall rounded
windows above balconies flank a recessed central
block. A balcony runs across the full width of the
central block supported by sturdy brackets. Close Window |
