Royal London House
occupies the corner of Deansgate and Quay
Street. It was designed in 1904 by Charles
Heathcote, the architect of the Onward Building, which
sits almost opposite on Deansgate. Pevsner
describes it as "a big Baroque stone block .... Not
Heathcote at his best, but the big domed turret to the
corner of Quay Street is well handled." That may
have been the case but, as you can see in the
photograph below, that dome has been somewhat
truncated now.
