Manchester Chinese
Christian Church This building on the
corner of Cable Street and Chadderton Street has the
appearance of a wharehouse or factory and examination of
an 1888 map of the area indicates that it was home to T
Barlow Brothers Umbrella Factory. Today there is
an empty lot beyond the old factory on the Oldham Road
side of the building. The old map shows that at
that time St. Paul's Church stood there. The map
indicates that the curch had a 95 foot tower with a
spire that added a further 30 feet.
Ironically, the ground floor of the old fatory is used today as the Manchester Chinese Christian Church. Close Window |
