23 New Mount Street - Former Cooperative Printing Society

23 New Mount Street is a Grade II Listed building originally built for the Co-operative Printing Society.  Today it is known as the "New Mount Business Centre" and is, "... a Serviced Office Provider operated by a company called Haaig Ltd."  They say of 23 New Mount Street that, "We provide the best value serviced offices in Manchester in one of the city's great buildings.  23 New Mount Street is a fabulous grade II listed building in the heart of Manchester's up and coming Green Quarter. Only a stone's throw from the Print Works and the Northern Quarter, Victoria train station, and Shudhill tram stop."

Adding that, "Originally built for the Co-operative Printing Society the centre offers 34,000 sq ft of serviced offices and business space of varying size.... Retaining many of its original, architectural features as well as modern touches throughout creating a unique, warm, thriving and inviting atmosphere."

The 4 images directly below are shown with permission of the New Mount Business Centre.

Below are my images of the building taken in 2009.

The 1848 OS map of the area indicates that the block occupied by the present building (shaded in pink) was once the site of multiple dwellings, some of which appear to be back-to-backs.  Across School Street was a Ragged School building which is still there today.

By January of 1927 the houses were gone and the present building, occupied by the Cooperative Printing Society was in place, as my version of the Goad Map of that period shows.
