Stubbs Mill, Piercy Street, Ancoats

This old textile mill building was originally constructed between 1880 and 1930 but has long stood derelict.

It has undergone extensive transformation by Urban Splash and will be ready for occupation in summer 2016.

Urban Splash's website says that, "... working with its architects SixTwo – has drawn inspiration from the building’s original uses, retaining original features. In total, Urban Splash is creating 27,500 sq ft of space with raw, inspired offices from 2,500 sq ft plus an impressive ‘third space’ – a communal, creative facility for tenants."

Joseph Stubbs specialized in making complicated textile machinery.  The advertisement below is shown with the generous permission of Graces Guide.

I have also seen a reference to the fact that in addition to building textile machinery, Stubbs also made outboard motors in the 1920s, which were sold under the names MoBo and JSL (Joseph Stubbs Ltd).
