Jactin House



Built by Central Hall Mission to provide accommodation to men working in the nearby mills.  Those who couldn't afford to pay for the accommodation were offered work in the adjoining work yard. 





The entrance on Murray Street indicates that it was erected in 1905. Jactin House closed in 1951. Since then it has been used for a variety of small businesses but now it is vacant.  Despite the date stone an examination of an 1888 map of the area shows that a Men's "Home" already occupied the site - see below.
