45 to 49
Dale Street Between Tariff Street
and China Lane, Dale Street and Hilton Street, two
buildings run parallel to each other linked by two
enclosed footbridges. The building on the left of
the image above is number 45 Dale Street. Its
neighbour is number 47. On the far right of
the image you can just see the corner doorway to number
49 Dale Street.
These former
factory/warehouse blocks are occupied today by a variety
of businesses, many, like "Loud Accessories", are
involved in the garment business. The block is
marked below by the red rectangle drawn over the 1953
aerial photograph.
In 1886, as demonstrated
by my sketch from a map of that time, number 49 was an
upholstery and quilt warehouse.
