Mayfield Station
Manchester Mayfield Station still stands across Fairfield Street from Manchester Piccadilly Station. It opened in 1911 as an overspill station for Manchester London Road, later renamed Manchester Piccadilly. (July 2008) (July 2008) (July 2008) The rear of the station in March 2009 It closed to
passengers in 1960 but for a while it operated
as a parcel depot.
I was startled when in
Prime Suspect 5 Mayfield Station showed up as an
abandoned station used as a haunt by a drug
dealer. Today Mayfield lies abandoned and
decaying.
The photographs below
were taken by Chris Marshall and they are shown in a
larger and better format on his web site. I have
reduced them in site to fit the format of the web
site. Chris very generously agreed to allow me to
use them here to show you what Mayfield Station looks
like now. Please vitit Chris' web site at http://www.chris5156.com/
