Number 42 Bloom Street and Number 8 Minshull Street

In the 19th Century the whole block between Bloom Street and Major Street and from Chorlton Street to Minshull Street was occupied by a series of warehouses.  This building is the only one remaining.  The buildings coloured purple on the map below have been demolished.

Although it is clearly one building it is infact divided into two sections.  In the photograph above, the end of the building closest to the camera is 42 Bloom Street.  The end furthest away is number 8 Minshull Street with an entrance on that street.  You can see the Minshull Street entrance in the image below.

In the 1880s, number 8 Minshull Street was home to Simpson and Godlee's shipping warehouse.  In 2011 it is occupied by the "Essential" night club.  42 Bloom Street has several occupants, as you can see below.

Mindel House - 12 Minshull Street

This former 19th Century warehouse sits on Minshull Street between Richmond Street and Canal Street, across from the Courthouse.  In the 1880s it was occupied by Boden Terras & Co.  In 1927 it was home to Rose Hewitt & Co Ltd, merchants and manufacturers.

In 2011 it is an office building for by the National Probation Service.
