The Grand NCP Car Park is seen here on Piccadilly.  This multi-storey car park is located behind the Grand Apartment block on Aytoun Street.  The site was previously occupied by the Waterloo Buildings which featured shops on street level but, according to an 1886 map, it was once occupied by two hotels - the Clarence and the Waterloo.

This old photograph, shown here with the permission of the Together Trust, shows the roof playground on a childrens' refuge located across Chatham Street from the Waterloo Hotel.  You can see the Waterloo's name at the top of the building opposite.

Below you can see the site in 1953.  The arrow points at the site of today's NCP parking lot.  The red dot indicates the Grand.
