Hotel - Quay Street

building on the west side of Quay Street is occupied
today by the Walkabout Hotel Manchester. The
hotel features 3 separate bars that are used for
various functions including product launches, office
parties, private events or weddings.
![]() A Manchester & Salford Directory for 1927 lists 13 Quay Street as belonging to the Engineering Department of the G. P. O. and a photograph in the Central Library collection shows the building in the 1970s and describes it as a Post Office Telephone Training Centre. ![]() At the top of the pediment the royal crest is carved in stone. ![]() The building has a number of original features. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the back of the building on Artillery Street. ![]() The hotel's publicity states that the building is a former hospital. It does bear some similarities in its architecture to the former Manchester & Salford Skin Hospital that used to be located further along this block. ![]() |
