The City pub dates back to the late 18th Century. In 1800 it was called the "Prince of Orange"

 
A close look at the frieze, between the windows on the first floor, shows William & Mary arriving in England. Britannia with her Union Flag shield is making an offering and the priest and angel are rejoicing.
