Sitting at the corner of Hyde Road and Devonshire Street, the Star Inn had the Fort Ardwick housing estate in its backyard.  Today, it sits on a very busy intersection but in something of a wilderness when it comes to customers.  It should be no surprise therefore that the building is no longer trading as a pub, but is instead an educational institution.  The chequerboard sign above the door indicates that it was once a Wilson's pub.
