Description |
|
The pedestrian
pathway that runs between Albert Bridge
House and Alberton House leads to the River
Irwell. The Trinity Bridge takes the
footpath across the river to the Lowry
Hotel. The bridge was designed by Santiago
Calatrava Valls, a Spanish architect,
sculpture and structural engineer. He has
created a number of spectacular bridges
around the world, as well as an Art Museum
in Milwaukee, in the USA, and the BCE Place
in Toronto, Canada. A single walkway crosses the Irwell from the Manchester side but on the Salford side it forks in mid-air and ramps down towards the Lowry Hotel and Quay Street. A 41-meter pylon, angled towards Salford, supports the structure. |
