Ralli Court



This office complex of Georgian style buildings was home to a variety of organizations including Ralli Solicitiors until 2014.  When I visited in October of 2014 the only part that remained was the gate and fence.


The demolition of Ralli Court was part of a project to refurbish this part of Salford and the plan is to replace it with an office building that apparently they are going to call "Work".



This site beside the Irwell on the Salford bank is one that has historic significance.  In 1787 the New Bailey Prison was constructed on here.








You can read more about the New Bailey Prison in the "Gone Forever" section of this web site.  The prison closed in around 1869 after a new prison was built in Strangeways. 

Prior to construction on the Ralli Court site the area was excavated to expose the remnants of the old prison.




In the aerial photograph below, shown with the permission of English Heritage, you can see that in 1953 the site (indicated by the red line) was a railway goods yard.
