Premier
Inn - Victoria Bridge Road Today's Premier Inn, on
Victoria Bridge Road, began life as Highland House,
designed by the architectural practice of Leach, Rhodes
and Walker for the Department of Inland Revenue.
It was completed in 1966. The tower stands 23
storeys tall atop a first floor podium. (You can
see it below in its original form.)
In 1995 the Inland
Revenue announced it would be moving out and soon after
the building was acquired by the Bruntwood
Group. Between 1998 and 2000 it was reclad
and renamed "North Tower". Today it is a Premier
Lodge Inn and the top 12 floors are home to 96
apartments.
