City Suites - Chapel Street This building is known as City Suites
Manchester which is a little odd since this is
definitely in Salford. The promotional information
on its website claims that it represents, "...
the next exclusive address to beakthrough into the
elite of the UK property market." It
goes on to add that, "... Few
city centre homes can boast the refinement of a full
suite of luxury facilities, including a
state-of-the-art gym, spa pool and Jacuzzi. There’s
also the addition of a concierge-style reception
service. These luxury leisure facilities are highly
desirable and delivered as part of the CitySuites
experience."
********************* Below are images from the construction phase. Earlier views taken in November of 2015 ************************* Circa 1888 this site, beside the
railway viaduct that led into Exchange Station, was home
to a conglomeration of shops and commercial premises and
featured a staircase for passengers wanting to take the
short route from the station to Chapel Street.
The area is shown in the aerial image
below from the 1940s. The actual site to be
occupied by the City Suites building has been shaded in.
Below are some images of the
buildings that were demolished to make way for the
City Suites development.
