Charles
Heathcote
In his book, "Manchester - An Architectural History", John J. Parkinson-Bailey says of Heathcote that he was, "one of Manchester's most prolific, yet little known, architects. Heathcote had been articled to Charles Hansom from January 1865 to January 1869, then after a brief time in the offices of Hirst, Lockwood and Mawson, he joined Edward Salomon, before setting up on his own in Manchester in 1873." ******************** Commercial Union Building, Spring Gardens - 1881 - 1882 - now Vivienne Westwood ****************** Northern Rock Insurance Building, 37 Cross Street - 1895 *************************** Alliance House, Cross Street - 1901 ************************* Parr's Bank, York Street - 1902 - now the Athenaeum Bar *********************** Joshua Hoyle Warehouse, Piccadilly - 1904 Now the Malmaison Hotel *********************** Anglia House, 86 Cross Street - 1904 Although reference books refer to this as Anglia House the signs on the building call it Quincey House. ************************* Eagle Insurance, Cross Street - 1911 ************************ Lloyd's Bank, 33 - 35 Cross Street - 1915 |
