The George and Dragon sits beside Manchester Road in Castleton, Rochdale. It was built in 1897. As you can see from the original sketch by Edgar Wood (shown below) the design was one that harkened back to an earlier time. Over the years a bogus Tudor front was added but the original carved sign remains, although it has been relocated.
