In May of 1963, Belle Vue departed from the traditional dance formats that had been popular in earlier years and embraced the movement towards youth and pop music. A less than popular dance club held on Sundays in the Elizabethan Ballroom was cancelled and replaced with The Top Ten Club hosted by England's top DJ, Jimmy Savile. Apparently, the Top Ten Club drew crowds in the region of 2,000.
