The architect's website says that the brief for this building was to, "... create a striking new building which will accommodate state-of- the-art facilities and infrastructure and create a flexible, accessible and stimulating environment for collaboration and knowledge transfer between research groups and industry partners" They add that, "... The aim of the Technology and Innovation Centre is to facilitate change in the ways that the university and industry engage. The building facilitates research and knowledge exchange activities by incorporating flexible project, meeting and office space, alongside high quality research and laboratory accommodation including clean rooms, world class equipment, specialist laser optics materials laboratories and high voltage facilities."



  • The University of Strathclyde believes that their new centre , "... will accelerate the way in which researchers in academia and industry collaborate and innovate together, within a new specifically designed state-of the art building in the heart of Glasgow. Our teams will include researchers, engineers and project managers from academia and industry, who will work side-by-side on projects including advanced manufacturing & materials, health & wellbeing, innovation & entrepreneurship, measurement science & enabling technologies and ocean, air & space. Developed with industry, for industry, the Technology & Innovation Centre has already attracted Scottish and Southern Energy, the Weir Group, Scottish-Power and several other major cross- sectorial industrial companies. By working together both will benefit from participation by large corporations and a large group of innovative SMEs. "
