The Scalpel is the latest tall building to join the Gherkin, the Cheese Grater and the Walkie Talkie in London's business district, The Square Mile.  Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, this 35 storey office building will be home to the W. R. Berkley global insurance company as well as Axis Capital.  It occupies the corner of Lime Street and Leadenhall Street with the Willis Building and Lloyd's as neighbours, which are reflected in its glass wall.

The Scalpel stands 190 metres tall with 35 floors of offices above ground with a further 3 basement levels. In addition to the commercial office space the building will provide, the development will create a public square with benches, artwork and a coffee shop.
