Description |

Phase One of the
construction of the Said Business School
in Oxford was completed in 2001 and
opened officially in 2002.
The architect's website says that this building was the modern equivalent of an Oxford College. They explain that, ".. the so-called Harvard lecture style rooms form the core of the teaching arrangements with complementing seminar rooms, library and research rooms." "The hypostyle
entrance hall leads to two double
height cloisters, one open and the
other enclosed."
Phase Two of the project is located at the end of the public square outside Oxford Railway Station. In harmony with the original building this one also features buff brickwork with stone dressings. The entrance is through a solid stone cube, "... with an unambiguous door at its centre." In 2013 the building
was awarded the RIBA National Award for
architectural excellence.
