This mixed-use
building on Dolben Street in Southwalk is
home to the London College of Contemporary
Music and also offers 55 apartments.
The developers, Taylor Wimpey, describe it
on theior website as a, "...
groundbreaking scheme ... providing a
range of private and affordable homes as
well as a brand new flagship
headquarters for the London College of
Contemporary Music. Inspirational
architecture and outstanding interiors
combine to create a new landmark for
Southwark." The LCCM explain that their presence in the building provides 6 floors of, "... unrivaled resources for music, writing and technology. This includes: "... A state of the art 200 capacity venue; 7 soundproofed rehearsal and performance rooms; 4 computer rooms; a Library and study space; Classrooms and meeting rooms; 3 recording studios; 2 audio visual booths; Cafe; 2 piano rooms; 5 practice booths; and 6 drum booths." The information about the residential floors makes it very clear that the music school is completely sound-proofed from the rest of the building. |
