Description
|
More London is a development of
buildings on the South Bank of the Thames
beside Tower Bridge. The More London
website says that the development offers
occupiers, "... the benefit of
occupying high quality, efficient
office space located within a vibrant
new business community in a world
famous location adjacent to Tower
Bridge and opposite The Tower of
London."
The architects, Foster + Partners, say of
their Masterplan that it, "... establishes an entirely
new city quarter on a site that has
remained undeveloped for decades with a
rich mix of uses including offices, a
4-star hotel, a supermarket, health
club, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants
and a new home for the Unicorn Childrens
Theatre."

7 More London Riverside
"The Foster + Partners' website
describes the building as, " ... the final
and largest building within the More London
masterplan (that) provides a new 10-storey,
sustainable headquarters for
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. The building
incorporates a range of energy saving
strategies. In addition to a high-performance
façade designed to offer shade and insulation,

8 More London Fire Station
The More London Fire Station dates
from 1879 but it was decommissioned as a fire station
in 1928. As part of the More London Masterplan
the building has been refurbished and today it is home
to PricewaterhouseCooper's "Social Enterprise
Hub". It sits adjacent to PwC's headquarters in
7 More London. The Fire Station's website
explains that, " ... PwC is
committed to help tackle social exclusion and
alleviate unemployment in the UK by supporting
social enterprise. So we’ve regenerated a disused
fire station next to our offices at 7 More London
and created a social enterprise hub. The
Fire Station on Tooley Street, London SE1, is a
triple sector partnership conceived and convened
by PwC, and made possible in collaboration with De
Vere Venues, the UK Government Homes and
Communities Agency, social entrepreneur Simon
Boyle, Beyond Food Foundation, Big Issue Invest,
the School for Social Entrepreneurs, Social
Enterprise UK and Blossoms Healthcare. Each plays
a part in making this a successful social
enterprise hub, hoping to accelerate the impact we
each have in our local communities and in the UK
as a whole."
