The Ålesund Nursery or
Kindergarten opened in 1950 but in 2011 it
moved into this new purpose built
facility. The building was somewhat
controversial because local residents were
concerned about the proposed height of the
building and even more about the fact that
it was allowing the nursery to expand from
36 places to 80. This, they claimed,
would put local streets under increased
pressure from associated traffic dropping
off and picking up the children. The
new facility has two elements. The
nursery buildings are on one side of
Statsråd Daaes gate and a playground is on
the other.  The nursery/kindergarten is organized into two age groups. The Munch department for children between 0 and 3 and the Picasso department for 3 to 6 year olds.    |
