Description
This new building occupies a site adjacent to the Wembley Arena and almost in the shadow of the Wembley Stadium.  Due for completion in 2013 it will be Brent Council's new Civic Centre designed by Hopkins Architects, who were responsible for the iconic London Olympic Velodrome.

Hopkins say that their brief for the building was to design, " ... a new multi-purpose community hall, which will accommodate theatre, concerts and large wedding receptions. The soaring foyer and atrium has been designed as a flexible space within which a large public staircase will become seating for "Wembley Live" performance events. Other functions will include a one-stop shop and a state-of-the-art library and learning centre."

Brent Council say that the new building, " ... aims to be the greenest public building in the UK with an outstanding standard against the British Standard BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method)."  Hopkins say that this outstanding BREEAM standard will be achieved through," ... a combination of solar shading, natural ventilation, façade performance and combined cooling, heating and power utilising waste vegetable oil."
