The architects say of the station that, "... The station as a whole is conceived as a local landmark through the integration of the bridge and feature lift towers. The canopy sails over the bridge structure as a lightweight aerofoil fin suspended from two towers, mirrored in plan at either end of stairways to the bridge deck. ...



... The lift towers themselves are beacons in the landscape creating a visual identity for the DLR Station discernible from Chrisp Street and across Langdon Park. Use of transparent materials and careful consideration in layout affords the passenger a sense of security whilst moving through the station and its environs by the elimination of blind spots."
