Description
The Jakob Kaiser Haus is part of the complex arranged around the old Reichstag.  It is in fact two buildings connected by bridges that cross Dorotheenstrasse.  The Jakob Kaiser 2 building (see above), located beside the River Spree, is the newest part having opened in 2002.  It was designed by the architectural practice of Schweger + Partner who say of it that, "It provides access to all the spaces that are of central importance to Bundestag members, i.e. the rooms for parliamentary group sessions and their lobbies, the cafeteria, the press centre and the access for media representatives. The ground floor is also the main public area including light-flooded concourses with visual relationships to the outdoors.

A broad central underpass connects the northern and southern blocks on both sides of Clara-Zetkin-Strasse".
A tunnel also connects the building to the Reichstag.
